The Family Crest w/ Babes in Canyon
Globe Hall Presents The Family Crest with Babes in Canyon on Thursday, June 26th. The brainchild of composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Liam McCormick, orchestral indie band The Family Crest was started as a recording project with co-founder John Seeterlin (bass) as a final release before bowing out of the industry. Instead of leaving music, they were inspired by their peers to set out to reinvent how a band could be created, starting The Family Crest with an audacious and bold vision of cultivating a musical community. “We always liked making music with people – getting a bunch of people together and singing. So we put ads everywhere,” says McCormick. “We posted on Craigslist, distributed flyers, and emailed old friends from school.” The outcome was greater than the original duo imagined, with over 80 people credited on the first recording the band produced and over 500 musicians credited throughout their catalog. Beyond the core band, over 500 “Extended Family” members participate on recordings, live shows, and across the artistic spectrum. Known for their jaw-dropping live performances, The Family Crest has toured extensively domestically and internationally garnering the support of fans and the press alike. Bob Boilen of NPR’s All Songs Considered said of The Family Crest, “Seeing is believing. Liam McCormick is a knockout singer, you simply must hear him live… There’s a decent chance you’re about to discover your favorite new band.” The Family Crest has released three full-length albums and three EPs, including their critically-acclaimed breakout LP, Beneath the Brine, the music of which SPIN magazine called,“…a masterfully arranged epic… sharp strings, galloping percussion, and an ambition wide enough to swallow you whole.” Most recently, the band has been releasing pieces of their current musical concept album series, The War. “The War represents “the next version of The Family Crest,” says McCormick, and indeed, the album reveals a band more in tune with its own large-scale Baroque eclecticism. Jim Vorel of Paste Magazine described their first offering, Prelude to War, as “A sound so big, it feels like it could collapse in on itself at any moment to form a black hole… One thing is certain: These guys are just as explosive as ever, and these songs are going to bring the house down in a live setting.” The War: Act I, the second installment in the concept series brought about similar sentiments as Earmilk stated, “The Family Crest deliver complex arrangements with such confidence that each varying sound produced is done with effortless intent and is never perceived as an afterthought… a stunning explosion of color and emotion and just another reason why I’m continually captivated by this group.” According to PopMatters, “The War: Act I is another triumph for The Family Crest, showcasing once again why they equal—if not outdo—just about every one of their stylistic peers.” The next chapter in the series, The War: Act II, promises a more robust and musically diverse sonic work. Mikaela Davis w/ Lily Seabird
Globe Hall Presents Mikaela Davis with Lily Seabird on Tuesday, July 1st. Five years since her debut album Delivery, Mikaela Davis has moved away from her hometown of Rochester, shared the stage with the likes of Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Christian McBride, Bon Iver, Lake Street Dive and Circles Around the Sun and entered a new decade. But it’s the ever-evolving relationships between her closest friends and bandmates that has propelled the Hudson Valley-based artist onto her new album And Southern Star––a truly collaborative effort that ruminates on the choices we make, and the people we always come back to. Davis earned her degree in harp performance at the Crane School of Music, and has molded her classical music training to create an original and genre-bending catalog that weaves together 60s pop-soaked melodies, psychedelia and driving folk rock. She met her bandmates at pivotal moments in her life––drummer Alex Coté in childhood, guitarist Cian McCarthy and bassist Shane McCarthy in college, and steel guitarist Kurt Johnson in her early twenties. It’s the band’s collective step into adulthood that has informed much of And Southern Star’s thematic landscape. Navigating the periphery of past selves, the coexistence of isolation and excitement in a new environment and the tension of growing away from what we thought we wanted is tackled with a luscious, kaleidoscopic grace. And Southern Star picks apart the reflection we used to recognise, while trying to build a new one. “I finally feel like this album is more me than anything else that’s been released,” Davis says, adding that producing the album along with her four bandmates allowed them to carve out their own ideas, rather than someone else’s. Despite playing together for over a decade, it’s the first time the five-piece have appeared on a full length album together. The bones of And Southern Star was recorded at Old Soul Studios with Kenny Siegal, a person who was an integral part of Davis’ move to the area. The rest was recorded by Cian McCarthy at Horehound Mansion, adding to the album’s intimate nature. The album was mixed by Mike Fridmann at Tarbox Road Studios, who is lovingly nicknamed as the ‘silent sixth member of the band.’ And Southern Star is an album that toes the liminal space of growing into ourselves, while tugging at parts of the past that we’re desperate to keep. Moving forward, and accepting change, is one of the most painful parts of renewal and we can often find ourselves stuck in the difficulty of it all. Davis, along with her band, understands that while these bumps may hurt at first, they’re not forever and just like the message of album track “Saturday Morning”: sometimes “the illusion of darkness breaks its spell.” All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Petite League w/ Lavalove + Business Cashmere
Globe Hall Presents Petite League with Lavalove and Business Cashmere on Friday, June 13th. Living together in famed Syracuse house venue Scarier Dome hosting shows for touring bands, producing live video sessions, starting a screen printing business while also learning the ins-and-outs of self-recording and releasing records was the foundational stepping stone upon which Petite League was created. Lorenzo Gillis Cook, songwriter and composer, along with drummer Henry Schoonmaker, came out of the gates swinging with their signature infectious lo-fi power pop releasing their two first records before graduating from college that same year. Petite League’s melodic sun kissed brand of indie rock started the buzz right away with some immediate industry, streaming, and publication recognition which helped propel the band forward from the jump. The band continued to shape itself into a staple of the New York indie rock scene as the band moved to Queens in 2016 enlisting the help of other ex-Scarier Dome residents Adam Greenberg and Kevin McCallum as part of the live band. The DIY mindset of operating Scarier Dome is still the backbone of what Petite League runs on to this day as they continue to release music prolifically, cultivate their online presence, and tour throughout the United States All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Eliza & The Delusionals w/ Grace Gardner + Gartener
Globe Hall Presents Eliza & The Delusionals with Grace Gardner and Gartener on Tuesday, June 10th. Hailing from Pottsville, NSW, Eliza & The Delusionals have carved out a distinctive place in the indie pop-rock scene since their formation in 2017. Anchored by the magnetic presence of Eliza Klatt (vocals, guitar), the band’s lineup includes Kurt Skuse (guitar) and Ruby Lee (bass). Their music blends emotionally resonant lyrics with soaring melodies, striking a chord with audiences both in Australia and abroad. 2019 marked their international breakthrough with the release of Just Exist. The track resonated globally, securing high rotation on American radio, including SiriusXM AltNation, where it topped the Alt18 charts for an impressive 14 weeks. The song’s success earned the band Q Music’s Rock Song of the Year and Breakout Artist of the Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards in 2020. Riding this wave, Eliza & The Delusionals made their North American debut, supporting Silversun Pickups on a month-long tour that solidified their presence on the international stage. Despite plans for 2020 being curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the band used the downtime creatively, crafting their debut album, Now And Then. Released in 2022, the album featured collaborations with industry heavyweights like Keith Harris (Black Eyed Peas) and Sarah Aarons (Zedd, Miley Cyrus). Critically acclaimed, Now And Then garnered a 4.5-star review from Rolling Stone Australia and was nominated for triple j’s J Award for Album of the Year. The album’s success spurred a sold-out national tour and a return to North America for festivals and another stint with Silversun Pickups. 2023 brought the recording of their sophomore album, Make It Feel Like The Garden released in full in late 2024. Written and recorded with collaborators including Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy) and mixed by Chris Collins (Royel Otis), the album features contributions from Brian Aubert (Silversun Pickups) and Butch Vig (Garbage, Nirvana). The lead single, Make It Feel Like The Garden, and its follow-up, Falling For You, showcased the band’s evolving sound and was showcased through multiple national tours across Australia. Released in July 2024, Make It Feel Like The Garden debuted at #9 on the ARIA Top 50 Digital Albums chart, with further accolades across various categories. Plans for a national tour were temporarily postponed when Klatt sustained a hand injury requiring surgery, but her recovery saw the band return to form, touring North America with The Front Bottoms later that year. With a dynamic blend of heartfelt songwriting and captivating live performances, Eliza & The Delusionals continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with on the global stage. As they prepare for their rescheduled Australian tour in 2025, the band’s story remains one of resilience, creativity, and unrelenting passion for music. Jutes – Sleepyhead Tour w/ Phem
Globe Hall Presents Jutes – Sleepyhead Tour with Phem on Tuesday, April 22nd. As a 90s baby, Jutes’ is constantly referencing and pulling inspiration from the Alt Rock bands he grew up on like Nirvana, Deftones, Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins. Never being able to put Jutes in a box has been a recurring theme from the beginning. It all started with Hip Hop and R&B while living in Toronto. Then after packing his bags and moving to LA to couch surf, Jutes signed to Capitol Records and started making Trap infused Pop Punk. After a couple years Jutes went back to being independent and released a Grunge Rock album titled “Ladybug.” The newest chapter in his story has taken on a dark and cinematic tone.
