Surf Hat w/ The Back Alley
Globe Hall Presents Surf Hat with The Back Alley on Wednesday, November 19th. Surf Hat is the ever-evolving and fun-loving creative brain child of the duo of Jon Allan and Evan Camm. A melting pot of surf, psych, folk, and indie. Based out of the mountains of British Columbia, the group has released two full length albums since 2022 and performed relentlessly across western Canada. They are queuing up their third full length for fall 2025. THE BACK ALLEY The Back Alley stemmed from the solo recording project of lead singer Ralph Porter who wrote songs such as ‘Your Love’ and ‘Flower Girl’ before the band was formed in 2022. Now a 5-piece independent rock band based in Chicago, Illinois, the band is a hybrid of Ax and The Hatchetmen’s members Hunter Olshefke (Bass), and Sal Defilippis (Guitar), who have joined forces with Jaden Cone (Guitar), Ralph Porter (Vocals), and Ben Kremer (Drums) to perform and record original music while still paying homage to their singers past discography by performing completely new takes on his songs at their live shows. The bands debut EP ‘Live From Picture-Minded Studio’ marked a major transition for the band as they begin to move from the “bedroom pop” vibes of Porter’s solo work into a more guitar-heavy indie rock approach with songs such as “Gump”, “Lightning” while still including the new takes on his original music as part of the EP. The band has started to find their own rhythm within their new songs ‘Brand New’ and ‘Grey Skies’ leading the way. After carving their path in the Midwest scene in 2023 and 2024 with new music and shows at iconic venues such as Lincoln Hall and Park West, the band is ready to take on 2025. The bands latest single ‘Shaking Off The Snow’ will be released on March 20th as they kick off their first tour together. Luna Luna is the solo project of Colombian-American artist Kavvi, known for crafting a vibrant sound that seamlessly blends his Spanish and English roots. Mixing nostalgic, feel-good synth-pop with a modern indie edge, Luna Luna has become a standout name in the alt-pop and Latin indie scenes. What started as a personal creative outlet has evolved into a project that has earned serious recognition — including nods from Rolling Stone as one of “10 Latin Acts to Break Big” and from Variety as one of “8 Latin Indie Artists to Watch.” Luna Luna’s music has been featured by Billboard, PEOPLE, NPR, Paper, FLOOD, Earmilk, REMEZCLA, and more, while also landing on major Spotify playlists like New Music Friday, Lorem, and Mixto.Known for dreamy live shows and an acclaimed Audiotree session, Luna Luna has built a devoted fanbase and a strong online presence, generating millions of views with over a quarter million followers across platforms. Brand collaborations with Jack Daniel’s, Topo Chico, and Taco Bell highlight the project’s growing cultural impact, all while staying true to the emotional core that makes the music resonate so deeply. Dariell Cano: Dariell Cano, an 18-year-old Mexican-American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Byron Township, Michigan, is emerging as a powerful new voice in música mexicana alternativa. Quiet in the halls of Byron Center High School, Dariell lets his passion for music speak volumes, captivating over 60,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His talent for crafting emotionally charged sierreño ballads has led to over 10 million streams across platforms, with his song “Este Sentimiento” surpassing one million streams alone. His growing fan base, particularly among Mexican-American teens, is a testament to his rising popularity. Dariell is part of the next wave of Gen Z artists redefining regional Mexicano, blending chromatic jazz riffs with the raw emotion of the genre. His single “Quiero,” a collaboration with acclaimed young artist DannyLux, has been hailed as one of the top corridos and regional mexicano songs of 2023 by Remezcla. The track, first featured on Dariell’s Amor Variado EP, showcases their tender harmonies and delicate guitar work, embodying the “sad sierreño” subgenre that weaves together alternative rock influences with stories of unrequited love and romantic longing. Dariell’s dedication to music is evident in his inspiring self-taught journey, learning to play guitar by watching YouTube videos. He has also found support in his high school art teacher, Miss Vanderlaan, who has encouraged him to pursue his musical dreams by allowing him to use class time for composing and recording. Dariell will join DannyLux on tour, bringing his heartfelt performances to new audiences nationwide. As he continues to rise, his unique blend of sierreño and alternative influences promises to resonate deeply with listeners, particularly Mexican-American teens who connect with his bicultural perspective. Dariell Cano’s ability to blend the melancholic soul of regional Mexicano with modern jazz and rock influences positions him as one of the most exciting young artists to watch in the evolving landscape of música Mexicana. Globe Hall Presents TOLEDO with fanclubwallet on Sunday, November 9th. Fanclubwallet is the indie rock project of cartoonist-turned-musician Hannah Judge, a longtime champion of Ottawa’s local music scene. What started as a lo-fi bedroom pop project quickly gained traction, with her breakout track “Car Crash In G Major” racking up over 14 million streams. Since then, Hannah has toured internationally, opening for artists like CHVRCHES, Yot Club, and Dream Ivory, all while staying deeply rooted in the DIY ethos.
